Imam Abu Noor’s Background

Imam Almoutem was born and raised in Damascus, Syria where he gained a background in both secular and Islamic study, graduating with degrees in both Islamic and Arabic studies from the Furqan Institute of Damascus. Imam Almoutem received his certificate of completion of Quran memorization with tajweed in the Hafs narration under the tutelage of leading Syrian Quran scholar, Muhyi Aldeen Alkurdi. Almoutem has worked in the field of Da'wah since 1984, and has been  an Imam for more than 35 years.  Almoutem first served as an Imam at the Flint Islamic Center in Michigan before moving to the MCC of Louisville in 2013, where he has been since.  

In addition to his roles as the Imam/Clergyman of the MCC of Louisville, Almoutem serves as a supervisor for the MCC's youth groups (YM, Fajr Club, etc), provides services to Muslim patients and inmates in Louisville, and is also a founding member of Louisville Waqf, a centralized non-profit organization that collectively supports all of the Louisville Masajids and Islamic schools.
